Why do you need a two-piece frame so that you can pack your bike in a standard-sized case and fly with no over-size fees?
"We're planning to fly to Europe and want to
take our bikes. The airlines quoted us $1200. to take two bikes there and
back." (customer comments in March of 2009).
Here are some member posts from the Triathlon Club of San Diego:
"Anyone have a helpful suggestion on how best and cheapest to ship my bike back stateside following Ironman Switzerland? Fed Ex is doable but $1500. Any safe, reliable and less expensive suggestion would be greatly appreciated." (posted 2/22/10).
"Hi Everyone, I'm truly humbled and honored to have found out today that I won a lottery slot to Kona! Now all the logistical questions, besides how the heck will I hold up in the heat, humidity, and wind, are flooding through my mind. My biggest question is what is the best way to get my bike to Kona? I plan on going out about a week or week and a half before the race to try and acclimate. The airlines look like a $100-175 each way shot. Any advice would be much appreciated. Mahalo." (posted 4/26/09)
"I am doing Ironman China in a few weeks, and the airline I am flying on is charging me $200 each way for my bike. At that point would it be cheaper to ship? Does anyone have any advice/experience with shipping their bike internationally? Thanks in advance." (posted 3/28/09).
